Project of the moment

In a class of its own

Home to Abu Dhabi's F1™ circuit, golf courses, theme parks, mangrove plantations and wide-open spaces, Yas island has it all – well, almost. For those of us whose scene is more cityscape than this spectacular 25 km2 island landscape, then look no further than Abu Dhabi, its neighbouring city and the UAE's capital.

Part of Abu Dhabi's massive development and expansion, Aldar Properties' world-class island development, targeted for completion in 2014, provides an idyllic leisure setting for local resident population and international tourists alike.

In November, Yas Marina Circuit will provide the setting as Formula One drivers gear up to burn rubber as for the inaugural F1™ Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. A unique combination of style and function, Yas Marina Circuit offers spectacular aerial views and an iconic venue for any motoring enthusiast.

There is so much hype about Yas island that its difficult to escape the allure of the ostentatious development and former private retreat of the UAE's founder Sheik Zayed. But, with talk of cable water skiing and scuba diving in the Island's water park, state-of-the-art hotel and entertainment facilities, and even Warner Bros.' super-heroes getting in on the act, why would you resist?
