Varyap Meridian –A landmark green project for Turkey

Bookmark and Share

In August, architecture firm RMJM announced plans for a $1 billion, landmark green project for the Atasehir district of Istanbul, Turkey. Once it is completed, the Varyap Meridian development will be a new residential and financial district on one of Ataşehir's last biggest lands on the Anatolian Side with 1500 houses, a 5 star hotel, a business center, numerous commercial and social areas.

In accordance with the 'total sustainability' concept, the buildings will each seek LEED certification, and, if obtained, could be the first green development of its kind in the country, resulting in minimum fees and consumption costs for the project's residents.

The concept requires a design and practice harmony for the 372,000 square metre development, with eco-materials selections and waste management in conformity with the environment habitat, thereby significantly reducing energy consumption whilst optimising water usage.

The ambitious development, which is expected to start construction in April 2010 and is due for completion in 2011, will include a 60-story tower featuring unprecedented panoramic views, 1,500 residential units, to include penthouse apartments, a five-star hotel, parking facilities and numerous commercial and social areas, including offices, conference facilities and landscaped public areas.

Varyap has significant experience in real estate developing activities, relating to financing, construction, marketing and sales. Known in local and international arenas alike, Varyap is renowned for constructing major projects, such as Europe's largest Justice Palace in Istanbul, which is being built on a 343 thousand m2 construction area in Çağlayan and is planned to be opened in 2010.

World-class architecture firm RMJM has an impressive portfolio that includes the completed Palm Jemeirah Islands in Dubai, the Olympic Green Convention Centre in Bejing, and the Abu Dhabi project Capital Gate (http://www.euroasiaconstruction.com/cpage.php?pid=1&quicknewsid=176&) which is currently under construction in Abu Dhabi.

Varyap continues founding prestigious projects in Turkey by boosting Istanbul's value with Varyap Meridian and its ecologically high standards.
